Compassionate and comprehensive restorative dental care – from A to Z

Dr. Aaron Sanders and the team at Z Dentistry in Reno, Nevada, take great pride in supporting a “judgment-free” zone. While we take our work very seriously, we know how to ease a tense situation, laugh with patients, and celebrate their joys. As we get to know you, you may become like extended members of our own families. This relational approach to dental care helps to avoid the need for restorative dentistry services. Patients enjoy visiting and catching up with us. They do not dread the dental appointment. In turn, they keep up with the regular check-ups that are necessary to prevent or halt the progression of harmful oral conditions, including tooth decay and gum disease.

Patients who have not seen a dentist in a while also appreciate our friendly, authentic, and fear-free approach to care. We make it easy to start with a “clean slate.” Dr. Aaron’s first goal during emergency visits is to ‘get you out of pain’. He then helps patients to decide what is most important to rebuild and preserve their teeth. Sometimes, all it takes to get back on the road to health is the introduction of special oral care products or cleaning techniques. Other times, more extensive professional dental services may be necessary. No two treatment plans are alike, and Dr. Aaron’s recommendations are based on what he finds during an exam and his discussion with you at our practice in northwest Reno.

Treatments to reconstruct a portion of a tooth (or the entire tooth) include:

Dental fillings – We use durable, toothlike dental materials to “fill in” and repair cavities or holes in the teeth caused by decay.

Dental crowns – For large cavities or broken teeth, crowns replace the portion of the tooth that is visible above the gums.

Root canal therapy (RCT) – This may be the only way to preserve a tooth with deep or severe damage to the innermost chamber of the tooth. RCT removes damaged tissues and protects the tooth. Usually, the tooth needs with a dental crown to complete the treatment.

Extractions – Not all teeth can be “saved” with a filling or a root canal. We may need to remove very broken or otherwise damaged teeth that cannot be repaired.

Tooth replacement – It is critical to replace extracted or lost teeth quickly. The supporting bone in the jaw shrinks without stimulation from the teeth that happens when you chew food. Dr. Aaron is happy to discuss options to prevent, minimize, or halt the progression of bone loss and restore your healthy and beautiful smile. These options include dental bridges, partial and complete dentures, and implant-supported crowns, bridges, and dentures (overdentures).
